Home of the best option quarterback ever: Tommie Frazier

And another great QB: Scott Frost - the 1st Husker to both rush and pass for 1000 yards in the same season, and only the 12th person in NCAA Division 1 history to do it. (or maybe only the 10th - depending on who you listen to!)

And still another great QB: Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch - the 1st Husker to both rush for over 3000 career yards and pass for 4000 career yards, and only the 3rd person in NCAA history to do it. Also, the 2nd Husker to both rush and pass for 1000 yards in the same season, and only the 13th QB in NCAA Division 1 history to do it. (or maybe only the 11th - again depending on who you listen to!)

Home of the best Coach ever: Dr. Tom Osborne. 60-3 in his last 5 years with 3 National Championships. 255-49-3 overall. Always 9 wins. Never more than 3 losses. Thanks Coach for an awesome 25 years!! The first division 1a coach to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame without waiting for the 3-year waiting period!

This page is dedicated to a big Husker fan, my Dad. He is the greatest, and we used to listen to games when I was a kid back in Omaha, starting back in the Johnny Rodgers days.

Pending approval by the NCAA, the Huskers will meet Arizona State in the Black Coaches Association Classic on August 24th, giving them 13 regular season games, 8 home games, and possibly 15 total games if they reach the Big 12 Championship and a bowl game. Miami wins the National Championship by beating the Huskers 37-14 and leaving no doubt who the best team in the country was this year. Congrats to Miami, but I hope we see you again next year for pay back!! 01/03/02

The Huskers get the BCS #2 slot and will play the Miami Hurricanes for the National Championship in the Rose Bowl on January 3rd, 2002!! The Huskers beat out Colorado by .05 points in the BCS, meaning the TCU victory turns out to have been critical after all! The .16 points we picked up in strength of schedule made the difference. The Huskers move up to 4th in the AP poll, and more importantly, #3 Colorado remains behind #2 Oregon. 45 minutes to go until the BCS rankings and the Rose Bowl pairing are announced 12/09/01
Well, the Coaches poll is out, and one or more coaches (Was that you Gary Barnett?) decided to stick it to the Huskers, and jump Colorado over Nebraska (by 3 lousy votes) even though neither team played, and the only thing affecting either team's ranking should have been in the Huskers favor, that being the slight strength of schedule increase from the TCU win. The Huskers were 55 votes ahead of Colorado last week, and trail by 3 this week. There are only 60 voters... how did CU gain that much ground with neither team playing a game? Since they couldn't scam up enough votes to bump Colorado over Oregon as well, the math indicates that the Huskers can still go to the Rose bowl if the AP poll doesn't bump Colorado over Oregon, but that is just what I have read. BCS rankings will be announced at 2:30 CST on ABC. 12/09/01
LSU comes back after trailing by 7 at halftime to knock off Tennessee 31-20 in the SEC Championship game! So now we wait. Who will play Miami for the National Championship in the Rose Bowl? It should be the Huskers, who should also benefit slightly by gaining some strength of schedule BCS points with TCU's win over Southern Mississippi yesterday. But there is some fear that voters in the two major polls, especially the Coaches poll, might try and manipulate things so that Oregon or Colorado get the nod. We shall see when the BCS poll comes out, but you know who gets my vote! 12/08/01

As I figured might happen, Tennessee has passed us and moved into the #2 slot in the BCS poll. The Huskers are #3. Tennessee plays LSU in the SEC Championship this weekend, and if LSU can knock them off, we may still get into the Rose Bowl. Come on LSU!! 12/03/01
Colorado proves they are for real by beating #3 Texas 39-37 and winning the Big 12 Championship. Miami is in the Rose Bowl with a victory over Virginia Tech. In the swamp, #2 Florida falls to Tennessee, and so now we wait and see where the Huskers end up in the BCS. Will they be #2? Will Tennessee pass them up? Will Oregon? Tennessee has one more game in the SEC Championship next weekend, so even if the Huskers are #2 or #3, that game may change things. What a wild finish to the college football season, and it isn't over yet! 12/01/01

The Huskers are rated #1 in the BCS poll this weekend, with Oklahoma only falling to #2. It is rather ironic that Miami is 3rd in the BCS even though they are 1st in the AP and Coaches poll, even after the BCS tweaked the poll for Miami this year, because Miami got left out last year. But if they keep winning, they will have their shot. But for now, the Big 12 reigns supreme owning the top two spots for the second week in a row. Great Job Huskers!! 10/29/01
The Huskers knock Oklahoma from the list of unbeaten teams, and 4 other unbeaten teams fall this weekend: UCLA, Virginia Tech, Washington State, and Maryland, leaving only Miami, the Huskers, and BYU unbeaten. 10/28/01

Game Comments:

The Huskers win their 16th straight season opener against a tougher than expected TCU team. I didn't expect TCU to roll over, but I did not think it would turn into a defensive battle either. But while the TCU defense was good, the Blackshirts were great. Even when a turnover gave TCU the best field position of the day, the Blackshirts shut them down again a few plays later when they forced a fumble.

Maybe TCU is a better team than everybody thought - I sure hope so. TCU did lead the nation in the Total Defense category last year. On a positive note, Eric Crouch became the all-time offensive leader for the Huskers with 5,510 total offense, passing Tommie Frazier�s total of 5,476 set from 1992 to 1995.

Game Comments:

The Huskers host Troy State, who is playing their 1st game in Division 1A. They were in the Division 1AA playoffs 8 of the last 9 years.

The Huskers either were looking ahead to Notre Dame, were still recovering from the flu, or just didn't take Troy State seriously in the 1st half. Both the offense and defense showed signs of strength, but also showed signs of weekness. The special teams showed weekness, with a fumbled punt return leading to 1 Troy State touchdown, and a missed FG to close out the half. Still, the Huskers led 28-14 at the half.

Again in the 2nd half, the offense seemed to struggle, although they did move the ball very well at times. The Huskers started the 2nd half with a fumble at their own 20, but the Blackshirts were ready to play and picked the ball off at our own 4, stopping Troy State from scoring. Jammal Lord did get in some time in the 2nd half, and that is good, but he probably should have played most of the 2nd half in a game like this. Twice in the 2nd half, Troy State held the Huskers from scoring when they were inside the 5, although the 2nd time could have been an effort to avoid a late game score. But I don't think so. The Huskers also only converted 5 out of 13 3rd down situations, and that isn't good against any team, and is really bad against a TSU team playing in their 1st game as a Division 1A team. However, Coach Frank Solich did say that he felt that Eric Crouch was tired, and had NOT completely recovered from the flu he had earlier in the week, or from the missed practices.

The Blackshirts played great the 2nd half, stopping the Troy State Trojans from scoring, and giving the offense great field position several times. They held Troy State to 165 yards total offense, and to only 2 yards of total offense in the 2nd half. 7 Husker players contributed to 8 sacks of Nutter, the Troy State QB, and the 68 yards lost by sacks helped the Blackshirts hold Troy State to -25 yards rushing. They also had a TD with Clanton's 20 yard fumble return. Great job Blackshirts!!

Again, margin of victory doesn't matter as much this year, but this should have been a 70-0 game, not 42-14. The Huskers better crank it up a few notches for Notre Dame..... and I believe that they will. Maybe Troy State is better than we thought. But that's 2 weeks in a row I make that comment about our opponent. Dahrran Diedrick did have a good 1st game at least, rushing 25 times for 177 yards and 3 TDs.

Game Comments:

The Fighting Irish came to Lincoln for their opening game, and face the Huskers who are playing their 3rd, and it showed big time in the 1st quarter. The Huskers took the opening kickoff, and drove 64 yards in 9 plays for the score. On Notre Dame's first play from scrimmage, Jamie Burrow recovered an Irish fumble, and Eric Crouch hit Josh Gibson on a 22-yd pass for the TD, Crouch's first passing TD of the Year. The Huskers added a FG to close the 1st quarter leading 17-0, and led 27-3 at the half.

The Blackshirts played another great game. Notre Dame's only TD came after a blocked punt gave them the ball at the Huskers 4 yard line. The Blackshirts stopped them on a 3rd and one, but with the score 27-3 the Irish went for it, and finally got it in on the 4th try. Other than that, Blackshirts pretty much shut down the Notre Dame offense. Which was a good thing for the 3rd week in a row, since the offense couldn't get things going in the 2nd half.

Again, the Huskers stepped it up and won this game, and were never really threatened. But the offense has to play all 4 quarters, and it seems like once they get up a little they back off. And again, I understand that the margin of victory isn't as important as it used to be, but I still want to see good hard football for 4 quarters, and I hate seeing missed opportunities. But all in all, a great game, and I will take a victory over the Irish in any form! Great game Huskers!

Game Comments:

The Rice Owls come to Lincoln for the game delayed by the terrorist attacks last week, on a rare Thursday night game. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of all those who were lost in New York City and Washington D.C.

Eric Crouch has a great 1st quarter with 3 for 3 passing for 100 yards and 2 TDs, and 2 rushes for 48 yards, and the Huskers lead 21-0 after the 1st quarter. Eric Crouch adds another TD on the ground with a 6 yd TD run, late in the 2nd qtr, and is 8 of 10 for 154 yards passing and 10 rushes for 70 yards in the first half. The Blackshirts gave up a couple of plays, but basically played a great 1st half.

Eric Crouch adds another TD rushing and another TD passing to Tracey Wistrom in the 3rd quarter, and ends up 9 for 11 and 165 yards passing for 3 TDs, and 12 carries for 97 yds and 2 more TDs play just 2 1/2 quarters. Jammal Lord and Thunder Collins are in to relieve the starters midway into the 3rd quarter, drive it right down the field, and Thunder Collins takes it in for the score on a 17 yard run! It is about time we see the 2nd team in there in the 3rd quarter of a game. The 2nd team is in on defense as well, trying to hold on to the shutout, and the crowd is totally into the games as the 3rd quarter ends with the Huskers leading 48-0. Rice misses a 45 yd FG, but then finally gets on the board with a 25 yd FG midway through the 4th quarter. Rice drove down the field again with time running out, and it looked like they would score, but Carl Scholting picked it off to kill off the final Rice threat.

Game Comments:

The Huskers go on the road for the 1st time this season to open Big 12 play against Missouri.

The Huskers have a FG blocked, and 2 turnovers slow them down, but they redeem themselves in the last two minutes by scoring a quick touchdown to close out the first half. The Blackshirts bend, but keep Missouri out of the end zone in the first half.

The Huskers picked up a FG in the 3rd quarter, and it was getting a little boring, and then Eric Crouch explodes for a 95 yard TD on 3rd and 8 from the 5, turning a bad situation into 6 points. The 95 yard run is a new record for the longest touchdown run for a Husker, beating out the old record of 94 yard TD runs held by two players. Jammal Lord gets his 1st TD of the year with a 1 yard run in the 4th quarter. The Blackshirts have a great 2nd half, not allowing Missouri to do much of anything at all.

Eric Crouch led the Huskers offense with an impressive day which included 17 carries for 191 yards and 2 TDs, and 8 out of 14 passing for 120 yards, for a total of 311 yards of total offense. His 95 yard TD run was the longest TD run in Huskers history, and his 191 yards rushing is the most for a Huskers QB. Great game Eric!!

For the team, it was 72 carries for 412 yards, and a total offense output of 532 yards. The victory today was the 23rd straight victory over Missouri. Great job Huskers! The Blackshirts had another outstanding day on defense, and really deserve a ton of credit. The offense started off slow, but with the Blackshirts keeping Missouri out of the end zone all day, it gave the offense the time it needed to get going.

Game Comments:

Iowa State starts off and quickly moves the ball past midfield, but Keyuo Craver intercepts it and returns it 57 yards for the TD! The Blackshirts stop Iowa State again, and DeJuan Groce has a great punt return to give the Huskers great field position around midfield. A couple of good runs by Eric Crouch and Dahrran Diedrick result in Diedrick's 2 yard TD run. and the Huskers are up 14-0 with just 6:15 played so far! After an exchange of punts, DeJuan Groce intercepts Iowa State to give the Huskers great field position and the Iowa State 23. Dahrran Diedrick almost gets in on a 14 yard run, and Eric Crouch then takes it in from the 1 for the score!

Iowa State starts the 2nd quarter with a 3rd and 21 from the 5, but Iowa State's QB Seneca Wallace runs for 27 yards and the 1st down, and a face mask penalty tacks on 15 more to put them on the 49. The Blackshirts then stop them and the Huskers start from the 13. Thunder Collins takes off on a 45 yard run to the Iowa State 42, then runs for 11 more. Judd Davies for 4, and Eric Crouch for 10 more to the 17. Dahrran Diedrick for 4, Davies for 2, and Crouch for 7 to the 4, 1st and Goal! Eric Crouch takes it in on the next play for the TD!

Iowa State moves backwards again, and with a 3rd and 20 from their 10, Iowa State's QB Seneca Wallace gets them out of trouble again with a 43 yard pass completion to the Huskers 47. The Blackshirts then get tough, and Iowa State has to punt, and the Huskers take over on their own 8 yard line. The Huskers drive down the field, mixing passes and running plays, capped off with a 25 yard Eric Crouch TD run, and Eric Crouch now holds the Huskers rushing TD record with 50 career rushing TDs, passing Mike Rozier, and also now holds the NCAA QB rushing TD record. The Blackshirts force Iowa State to go 3 and out, and then Troy Hassebroek blocks the punt, and the Huskers take over on the Iowa State 10, 1st and Goal with 1:39 to go in the half. Eric Crouch takes it in on 4th down from inside the 1 for his 4th TD in the 1st half. The Huskers lead 41-0 at the half!!

The Huskers move down the field to start the 3rd quarter, but the drive stalls on the ISU 24, when they fail to convert on 4th and 6. Iowa State drives back down the field, and Iowa State's QB Seneca Wallace finally breaks a big play when he turns what looked like a loss into a 17 yard TD run. I really wanted a shutout, but not this week. The Huskers go 3 and out, and Iowa State drives right down the field and scores again.

The Huskers are driving again in the 4th quarter, and Jammal Lord is in to replace Eric Crouch. Jammal has a couple of good runs and moves the Huskers to the ISU 9, but then gets picked off at the 2, and ISU takes over on the 16. They drive to their 46, and punt, and the Huskers take over on the 17. Jammal Lord and the Huskers drive down the field, and DeAntae Grixby is in at I-back. Lots of subs in now. Robin Miller finishes off the drive with a 1-yard dive for the TD! Thunder Collins added 62 yards on 4 carries, and another 33 yards on 5 receptions.

A great game for the Huskers, featuring a fantastic 1st half. Eric Crouch finishes with 15 carries for 104 yards and 4 TDs, and was 10 out of 14 passing for 110 yards. He broke the NCAA record for career rushing TDs by a QB, and the Huskers record for career rushing TDs by any player, that were both 49. Eric Crouch now has 51! Dahrran Diedrick carried 15 times for 107 yards and a TD. Great game guys!!

Game Comments:

The Huskers travel to Baylor, and it is a rainy day in Texas. Their first drive stalls on the Baylor 27, where the Huskers fail to convert on a 4th and 4. Baylor's 1st drive gets to the 49, and they punt. Judd Davies opens up the scoring with a 42 yard run, his 2nd TD of the year. Turnovers stop a couple of drives, and the weather is affecting both teams. In the 2nd quarter now. After a big Thunder Collins run, Eric Crouch fumbles letting Baylor off the hook. A few plays later, Keyuo Craver returns the favor by picking off a Baylor pass and returning it to the Baylor 22. Eric Crouch takes it in a few plays later for the TD. The Blackshirts are doing a pretty good job of stopping the Baylor Bears, and after a 20 yard punt return, the Huskers start the drive on the Baylor 49.

Ben Cornelsen runs for 36 yards to the 13. An incomplete pass, Steve Kriewald for 5, and Diedrick for 4, and it is 4th and 1 on the Baylor 4. Each teams takes a time out. Eric Crouch fails to get the 1st down, and Baylor takes over on downs at their 4. The rain continues to come down hard. Baylor goes 3 and out, but another fumbled punt gives Baylor the ball on the Huskers 38. Baylor throws 3 incompletions, and the Huskers have nobody back for the punt. Great move - not! Baylor downs the ball on the 1 yard line. And both teams are pulled from the field midway through the 2nd quarter because of lightning, with 7:34 to go in the half.

After about 35 minutes or so, the teams are back out on the field warming up to resume the 2nd quarter. The rain has stopped for now, and the lightning has passed. The Huskers start from their own 1 yard line. On the 2nd play, Eric Crouch fumbles the ball in the endzone, and Baylor falls on it for the TD. That is the 4th turnover in the 1st half. The Huskers start on their 29, and go 3 and out. Baylor starts on their 35. After a first down, they punt, and the Huskers start from their 11. The Huskers move the ball well, and get it to the Baylor 34, before they are forced to go for a 50-yard FG with 3 seconds in the half, but it is no good.

Things are still going wrong, as the Huskers turn the ball over again. Also, there was a questionable call where an official said that Craver called for a fair catch when he didn't, and the Huskers were forced to start that drive from the 17. Baylor is on the move in the 3rd quarter, on a drive that started from their 20, and move down to the Huskers 27 before the Blackshirts slow them down and push them back, and Baylor is forced to punt.

The Huskers start from their 12. Thunder Collins for 12. Thunder for 10, then 4. Thunder for 13 yards. Thunder for 7 yards! Judd Davies for 4, 1st down on the Baylor 38. Eric Crouch for 7. Dahrran Diedrick for 4, 1st down on the 27. Dahrran Diedrick breaks loose for 24 yards, 1st and goal on the 3, and Baylor calls a timeout. Diedrick for 2 to the 1, 2nd and goal. Eric Crouch sneaks it in from the 1 for the score!! Great drive Huskers!! 2:00 left in the 3rd quarter, and the Huskers have over 400 yards total offense. Eric Crouch has tied Tommie Frazier with that TD for the Huskers record for most TDs with 79. Baylor starts from their 19, and begins to move again, but they stall out on the 41, and punt, and the Huskers start on the 32.

Now in the 4th quarter, the Huskers have gone 3 and out, and are forced to punt as Thunder slips on the wet field on 3rd and 3 and loses 2 yards. Baylor takes over on their 32 after a 16 yard return. Baylor starts to move again, and is in Nebraska territory at the 42. Players on both teams are falling down on the wet field, losing their footing. Baylor gets to the 34 and it is 4th and 6, and they are going to go for it. A delay of game pushes them back, and they decide to go for a 55 yard FG. It's a fake FG, who knows what they intended, but they pooch it down the field instead. The ball falls on the 5 - but rolls into the end zone, and the Huskers have it on the 20. Eric Crouch takes off on a 43 yard run to the Baylor 37, and now the Huskers have 3 back over 100 yards, with Dahrran Diedrick and Thunder Collins also over 100. Judd Davies for 10 to the 27. Eric Crouch hits Tracey Wistrom for 19 to the 8, and it is 1st and goal. Dahrran Diedrick takes it in from there for the TD!

Baylor suprises everybody by trying to return the kickoff out of the end zone, and they fumble the return on the 15, and the Huskers have it there with great field position. Thunder for 9 to the 6. Thunder for 2 to the 4, 1st and goal. Eric Crouch walks it in from there, his 3rd TD of the day! Baylor will start from their 26. Baylor again starts to move, getting a 1st down on the 36. Then Baylor's Greg Cicero completes a 21 yard pass to the 43 of the Huskers. Greg Cicero completes another for 23 yards to the Huskers 20. Come on Blackshirts. Incomplete. Incomplete. INTERCEPTION!! Lornell McPherson picks it off on the 10, and the Blackshirts still have their defensive shutout going, even if the Huskers won't get a shutout again today.

Jammal Lord is in at QB, and the subs are entering the game. A penalty puts them back on their 5, 1st and 15. Coach Solich calls timeout and gives the offense a fast talking to. Thunder Collins takes off on a 50 yard run to the Baylor 45. Judd Davies for 3, then for 5. Jammal Lord for 2 and a 1st down. Grixby for 3 after a 5 yard penalty, 2nd and 12. Grixby for 10 to the 27. Judd Davies for 5, and he is now closing in on 100 yards too! Judd Davies for 22 yards and the TD!! The Huskers now have 4 backs over the 100 yard mark, the first time that has ever happened in Huskers history. Earlier in the game, the Baylor fans were chanting "overrated, overrated". They sure are quiet now!! 2:41 left to go in the game. Baylor goes 3 and out, and Keyuo Craver returns the punt 20 yards to the Baylor 27. Josh Davis in at I-back, and takes it 11 yards to the 16. DeAntae Grixby for 3. Baylor gets the ball for the last few plays of the game, at their 27. Wes Woodward intercepts Baylor at the Baylor 45 as times run out.

Baylor (and NU mistakes) kept it close for 2 1/2 quarters, but the Huskers exploded in the 2nd half. The Huskers had 4 backs over the 100 yard mark. Eric Crouch had 132 yards on18 carries and 3 TDs, Dahrran Diedrick carried 20 times for 137 and 1 TD, Thunder Collins led the pack with 165 yards on just 13 carries, and Judd Davies ran 12 times for 119 yards and 2 TDs. Great job Guys!! Eric Crouch was only 4 of 9 passing for 47 yards, and only through a single pass in the 2nd half. But the wind and the rain played a part in that. The Huskers rushed for 641 yards on 73 carries, and had 688 yards of total offense. On the down side, the Huskers gave up the ball 5 times on 7 fumbles, including 2 on punt returns, and 2 by Eric Crouch, one of which resulted in Baylor's only score when they fell on the loose ball in the end zone. But again, weather was a factor in that. Finally, Eric Crouch has broken Tommie Frazier's record for most total-offense TDs (includes TD passes) with 80. Great job Eric, even though I hate to see Tommie's records broken! It just proves how great Eric Crouch really is.

The Blackshirts did not allow Baylor to score all day, and have their first defensive shutout of the year, but the team will have to wait for the official one. The Blackshirts picked off 3 Baylor passes, including the one to end the game, and also recovered 1 fumble. They also had 5 sacks for -43 yards. They also did a great jobs when Baylor took over with great field position after we fumbled the two punts, both of which gave Baylor the ball at around the 50 yard line. Great job Blackshirts!!

Game Comments:

It is homecoming time for the Huskers, as the Texas Tech Red Raiders come to town.

Texas Tech goes 3 and out, and then the Huskers can't move the ball either, and they punt. Texas Tech returns the punt 85 yards for the TD, and Texas Tech gets on the board first. The Huskers start on their 20, and drive right down the field, highlighted by a 35 yard run by Dahrran Diedrick, followed by a 27 yard TD pass to Jon Bowling! Texas Tech fumbles the ball on the kickoff, and the Huskers have the ball on the 25. Judd Davies takes it in from there with a 25 yard TD run, and the Huskers have the lead! Texas Tech is moving the ball after starting on their 32 after the kickoff, with 2 plays of 20 yards or more. The Blackshirts finally stop Texas Tech on the 26, but they manage to get the FG.

The Huskers start off on the 32, and again drive right down the field. The highlights: Dahrran Diedrick for 12 yards to the 46. Eric Crouch hits John Gibson for 15 to the Tech 38. Judd Davies is out with an ankle injury, and Steve Kriewald is already injured, so Paul Kastl is in at fullback. Eric Crouch hits Paul Kastl for 19 to the 19, and then hits Wilson Thomas with a 19 yard TD pass! That is 3 completions in a row for a total of 53 yards, great job Eric! Texas Tech starts at their 25, and again is moving the ball, with completions of 12 and 20 yards, and a pass interference penalty gives them 1st and 10 at the Huskers 17. The Blackshirts stiffen, and force 2 incompletions and an 8 yard sack, and Texas Tech settles for the 42 yard FG. The Huskers again start off on their 32. Eric Crouch hits Wilson Thomas for 19 yards (that is 3 19yd completions in a row on passing plays!) to the Tech 48. Thunder Collins carries for 12 to the 34. A penalty moves the ball back to the 44, and the 1st quarter ends. Several Huskers are hurting, including Judd Davies, Tracey Wistrom, and John Gibson.

The drive stalls, and the Huskers punt and Texas Tech starts on their 17, and goes 3 and out. Great job Blackshirts. The Huskers start off at the Tech 49 after Dejuan Groce makes a great 17 yard punt return. Thunder Collins for 7, Diedrick for 6 to the 35, and then Eric Crouch hits Wilson Thomas for the 35 yard TD strike! Texas Tech starts on their 26. Again, Texas Tech is moving the ball, and move to midfield, before hitting a huge 36 yard pass to the Huskers 14, a few plays later it is 1st and goal from the 1 for the Red Raiders, and they put it in 3 plays later. The Huskers start at their 15, get a 1st down and out to the 35, but the drive stalls and Texas Tech takes over on their 24, get they get a couple of 1st downs and to the NU 48, but their drive stalls.

The Huskers start on their 18. Texas Tech picks off Eric Crouch and has the ball on the 28, but then Dion Booker saves the day by picking off Kingsbury at the 8, and returning it 18 yards out to the 26, and the Huskers have the ball back. They go 3 and out, punt the ball, and Wes Welker returns it 80 yards for his 2nd punt return of the game for a TD. Hold on, Hold on, there is a flag on the play!!! Texas Tech is called for offsides on the play, taking the TD away from Tech and it instead is a 1st down for the Huskers on their 37. Eric Crouch hits John Bowling for 14 to the Tech 49. After an incompletion and a loss of 2, it is 3rd and 12 from their own 49 with 1:03 to go in the half, and Tech calls time out. After an incompletion, Tech takes over on their 20 after the punt with 53 seconds left. Now Keyuo Craver is injured and is being helped off the field. Texas Tech hits a huge pass again for 45 yards to the 24, and then a roughing the passer penalty gives Tech a 1st down on the 12 with 0:09 left in the half, and the Blackshirts can't stop them and Tech scores the TD, and after a 2-point conversion Texas Tech ties up the game 28-28 with 3 seconds left in the half.

The Huskers get the ball to start the 2nd half, and they start on their 30. Eric Crouch hits Ben Cornelsen for 18. Dahrran Diedrick for 6, 9, and 10 to the Tech 27. Eric Crouch for 12. Paul Kastl for 8 to the 7, and Eric Crouch takes it in from there for the TD, and the Huskers retake the lead 35-28. Texas Tech starts from their 23, and go 3 and out. Dejuan Groce returns the punt 18 yards to the 41, and the Huskers have pretty good field position. Eric Crouch for no gain, and then gets 6 to the 47, but a penalty puts the Huskers back to the 37. An incompletion and it is 3rd and 14, and Eric Crouch hits Thunder Collins for 27 yards to the Tech 36, then Eric runs for 12 more to the 24. The drive stalls at the 16, and Josh Brown hits the 33 yd FG.

Texas Tech starts off on their 24, and Tech's QB Kingsbury runs for 25 to the 49. They move steadily down the field to the Huskers 8 before the Blackshirts finally stop them and force them to take the 31 yard FG. The Huskers start from the 29. Dahrran Diedrick for 21 to the 50! Eric Crouch for 12, and then Dahrran Diedrick for 15 to the Tech 23. Eric for 7 to the 16, and the 3rd quarter ends.

The 4th quarter starts and it is 2nd and 3 from the 16. Eric Crouch for 5 to the 11, and then Eric Crouch gets picked off in the end zone, killing a great drive, and Texas Tech takes over on the 20. Texas Tech is on the move again, and Kingsbury completes passes of 12, 8 and 26 to the Huskers 34. The Blackshirts hold, and on 4th and 12 from the 36, they line up for a 53 yard FG and attempt a pooch kick instead, but the ball rolls into the end zone and the Huskers and the Blackshirts dodge a bullet and have the ball on the 20. Eric Crouch for 13, but then the drive stalls and Texas Tech gets the ball on their own 21 after the punt. Texas Tech is moving the ball, and Kingsbury again completes a pass for 17 yards. They move down to the Huskers 34, where they throw 3 straight incompletions and turn it over on downs. The Blackshirts stop them, with a HUGE assist to the Huskers fans! The crowd was so loud you could barely hear the announcers.

The Huskers move the ball down the field, with the help of Diedrick 17 yard run, but on 4th and 1 from the 19, Josh Brown hits the 31 yard FG, and the Huskers lead by 10. 3:25 left in the game. Texas Tech starts on their 30, and again are moving the ball. Kingsbury completes passes for 8, 13, and 15 and it is 1st and 10 on the Huskers 34. SACK by J. P. Wichmann, back to the 44!! 2nd and 20 with 1:45 left. Incomplete. Kingsbury completes a pass for 12 to the 32, 4th and 8. SACK by Jeremy Slechta, back to the 40 with 0:54 left!!!! The Huskers run out the clock, and have the victory 41-31. Great final stand by the Blackshirts, and again thanks to the crowd for all of the noise!!

The Huskers offense rolls up 531 yards with 335 on the ground and 196 in the air. It was the 5th time this year the Huskers have rushed for over 300 yards, and the 4th in a row. Eric Crouch was 10 out of 22 passing for 196 yards and 3 TDs, and rushed 21 times for 105 yards and another TD. It is his 5th 100 yard game rushing this year, and the 4th in a row. Dahrran Diedrick rushed 20 times for 157 yards, his 5th 100 yard game and 3rd in a row. The Blackshirts allowed Texas Tech to roll up 440 yards as well, 373 of them on 34 completions in 64 attempts. But when it counted in the end, the Blackshirts did what they had to do.

Eric Crouch enters the record book again, this time as only the 4th player in NCAA history to both rush for over 3000 career yards, and pass for over 3000 career yards. Eric currently has 3096 yards rushing and 3957 yards passing. Eric also is now 32-5 as a starter, and he becomes only the 19th QB in the NCAA that has 32 wins, and is one win behind Tommie Frazier who was 33-3 as a starter.

The Huskers preserve their streak of Homecoming victories, today's win being the 33rd in a row. They also now own the longest home game winning streak in the nation with 19. Next week is Oklahoma, and the big concern is the injury situation. It seemed like a war zone, with several players from both teams getting knocked out of the game. Hopefully none of them are serious, and everybody can be ready for Oklahoma next week, because we will need them.

The old rivalry is alive and well, as the #2 Huskers face #1 Oklahoma today. OU wins the toss and defers.

The Huskers start on their 20. Dahrran Diedrick for 6, then loses 2. Incomplete pass and the Huskers go 3 and out and punt. The Sooners start on their 38. INTERCEPTION! Keyuo Craver picks it off on the 49 and returns it 24 yards to the OU 25. Eric Crouch loses 4, then loses 1. Incomplete, and the Huskers punt. OU takes over at their own 8 yard line. OU goes 3 and out, and the Huskers start at their own 41 with 10:47 left in the quarter. 3 and out, and punt. OU starts at their 22, and hits an 18 yd pass to the 40 and a 1st down, then stall and punt. The Huskers start on their 35. Paul Kastl for 5. Eric Crouch for 4. Thunder Collins for 4 and a 1st down on the 48. The drive stalls, and OU takes over after the punt at their 15 yard line. The sooners go 3 and out, and punt. The Huskers start on their 43. The Huskers go 3 and out to start the 2nd quarter, and OU takes over on their 23. OU starts driving with a 16 yard run, then a pass for 15. Runs of 10 and 17, and OU QB White tosses a 16 yd pass to the Huskers 22, but hurts his knee just after passing, and he is out. Hybl is in at QB for the Sooners. The Huskers get flagged for pass interference, and it is 1st and goal from the 7. Hybl hits his receiver in the back of the end zone, and the Sooners score first. The Huskers start on their 20. Eric Crouch hits Thomas for 13, then hits Hassebroek for 18 to the OU 48. Collins for 1, then Eric hits Thomas for 9. Diedrick for 2 and a 1st down at the OU 36. A penalty puts them back on the 41. Eric Crouch for 5. Eric Crouch hits Tracey Wistrom for 17 to the OU 18. Dahrran Diedrick runs for 15, and it is 1st and goal on the 3! Dahrran Diedrick takes it in from there for the TD, and it is all tied up 7-7.

The Sooners return the kickoff to the 29, but a penalty puts them back on 12 to start. 3 and out, and Groce returns the punt 33 yards to the OU 30! Dahrran Diedrick for 3, then 13. 1st and 10 on the 17. Diedrick loses 2. Collins for 4. Crouch to Thomas for 5, but it is 4th and 3 on the 10. Josh Brown hits the xx yd FG and the Huskers lead 10-7 with 2:37 left in the half. The sooners start off on their 20, and are driving. Mixed between incompletions, they hit pases for 10, 18, and 32, and it is 1st and 10 on the Huskers 20. The Sooners try a pass out of a double reverse, but Hybl slips before he can make the catch, and nobody was on them. A little too cute? Hybl competes an 18 yd pass to the 2, 1st and goal with 0:37 in the half. They stall, and settle for the FG and it is 10-10 to close out the half after a couple of plays by the Huskers.

The Sooners open the 2nd half and start on their 20. After a 19 yard Hybl run, Swiney makes a great interception when the ball bounces up in the air of the receivers face mask, and the Huskers have the ball at their own 36. Thunder Collins runs around left end for about 39 yards to the OU 25, but may be hurt - he is helped from the field. Dahrran Diedrick for 4, then for 14, 1st and goal from the 6. Diedrick for 3, but then Eric Crouch loses 6. After an incompletion, the Huskers settle for the 26 yard Josh Brown FG. The Huskers lead 13-10. The sooners start on their 20, and on 3rd and 8 from the 35, Chris Kelsay hits Hybl as he throws and Hybl doesn't seem to know where he is, but he completes the pass for the 1st down. Jason White is in at QB for the Sooners for a few plays, then Hybl is back. Their drive stalls. The Huskers start on their 12 after Groce gets hit for a personal foul for hitting the defender that tacked him in the head with the football. The replay shows why - the defender tried to twist his ankle off, including what looked like intentionally rolling over it, but who knows. The Huskers go 3 and out, and Larson booms it over 50 yards in the air, and about 65 with the roll!

The Sooners start on their 17 and get a 1st down but stall out on the 41, and the Huskers partially block the punt and take over on their 42. The Huskers go 3 and out, and another great punt by Larson puts the Sooners back on their 7. The sooners get a 1st down, but punt from their 26, and the Huskers have it back on their 27. The Huskers go 3 and out, and OU has it back on their 30. The sooners drive down the field with passes of 15 and 16 yards to the Huskers 36 but stall their, and do a pooch kick on the fake FG attempt and the Huskers start in a hole at their own 3 yard line. Diedrick for 2. Eric Crouch with a great 19 yard run gets us out of danger to the 24. Diedrick for 5, then 2. A face mask on 3rd and 3 gives the Huskers the 1st down at the 37. Eric Crouch hands off to Thunder Collins, who flips it back to Mike Stuntz, who hits Eric Crouch running down the left sideline, and Eric Crouch hits the afterburners and accelerates away from the OU defenders, and goes all the way for the 63 yard TD! Unbelievable!! It was a perfect pass from Mike Stuntz to Eric Crouch, and at the perfect time. Awesome call by Couch Frank Solich!! The Huskers get nailed for excessive celebration, but Josh Brown kicks the long extra point, and the Huskers lead 20-10!!

The Sooners start on their 24, and get a 1st down on the 40 with an 18 yd gain, but the Blackshirts get tough and force 2 incompletions, and then Burrow gets the sack back to the 27 yard line. The Huskers get the backk on the 24, and a penalty on the OU bench (really on OU Coach Stoops??) gives the Huskers the ball on the 39. The Huskers play it safe late in the 4th quarter, with 3:58 left. Eric Crouch loses a yard twice, Diedrick gets 2 back, and Larson punts again. The Sooners start at their 30 with 2:06 left. Hybl runs for 13 yards and a 1st down, but then the Blackshirts force 2 incompletions, and pressure by Kelsay forces Hybl into the sack by Clayton, and it is 4th and 22 from the 31 for OU with 0:51 left in the game. The Huskers jump offsides and it is 4th and 17 from the 36. The OU pass goes incomplete, and the Huskers take over on downs. Eric Crouch takes the knee, and it is all over, with the Huskers knocking off #1 Oklahoma 20-10!!

The Huskers beat the Sooners with a balanced offensive attack and some good punts, and awesome defense by the Blackshirts. The offense had 164 yards rushing and 165 yards passing, for a total of 329 yards. That doesn't happen often, more passing yards than rushing yards. The Sooners actually ran 16 more plays and gained 10 more yards total offense. Dahrran Diedrick had 23 carries for 90 yards and a TD, and Eric Crouch had only 21 yards rushing on 13 carries, but he made up for it with his 63 yards receiving and the TD. He also was 10 for 18 in the air for 102 yards, and becomes only the 3rd Husker QB to pass for 1000 yards in a season. He also now has over 4000 career yards passing and over 3000 career yards rushing, only the 3rd player in the NCAA to do that. Thunder Collins had 4 carries for 47 yards, plus he was the one who pitched back to Mike Stuntz before he hit Eric Crouch for the TD pass. For the Blackshirts, they were making great plays all day, especially when it counted. Kyle Larson also help with some great punts, with 5 inside the 20, and his critical 68 yarder.

The main thing that the Huskers did right was to not kill themselves. No turnovers, except for 1 meaningless interception of Eric Crouch when he threw it down the field on the last play of the 1st half. Coach Frank Solich a conservative game most of the game, and then called the Stuntz to Crouch trick play perfectly to break the Sooners will. And again, the Huskers fans were the 12th fan and more during the game.

The Huskers host the Kansas Jayhawks..... in Kansas. There are 25,000 to 35,000 Husker fans that have traveled to Kansas for the game.

The Huskers win the toss and defer, so Kansas will start the game with the ball. Kansas goes 3 and out, but the Huskers get nailed for roughing the punter, and Kansas has another chance, and this time really do go 3 and out. But, so do the Huskers, starting from the Kansas 43. On the 1st play of the Kansas Drive, J Smith forces the fumble, and J. P. Wichman recovers it on the Kansas 29. Dahrran Diedrick for 0, 3, and 12, but then the drive stalls when Eric Crouch gets sacked back on the 20. Josh Brown misses the FG wide right. Kansas starts at the 20, and goes 3 and out. The Huskers start on their 41, and after a loss of 4, Eric Crouch takes it 15 to the Kansas 48. Dahrran Diedrick for 7, then 6. Eric Crouch hits Thunder Collins for 6. On 4th and 1 from the 26, Thunder takes it for 3. Eric Crouch hits Paul Kastl for 3, then Eric carries it 6 yards, and on another 4th and 1, Eric Crouch runs it 4 yards to the10. It sure looked like a fumble that was picked up by Kelsay and taken in for a TD, but they call the Kansas QB down at the 20. The Huskers start on their 35. Diedrick for 6. Crouch to Riggenberg for 20. Diedrick for 17 to the 22, then 2 to the 20. Crouch to Thomas for 5. Diedrick for 1. 4th and 2, and Josh Brown hits the 32 yd FG, and it is 10-0. Kansas starts on their 24, and a holding penalty then puts them on the 14. They go 3 and out and punt, and Keyuo Craver takes it on the 30, and he returns the punt 49 yards on a great return that featured 2 or 3 great spin moves. On the 1st play, Thunder Collins takes it 21 yards for the TD! Kansas starts on the 28 and goes 3 and out. The Huskers start on the 16 and go 3 and out. Kansas starts on their 48, and they go 3 and out. The Huskers start off on their own 10. Eric Crouch for 6 yards, then 8 more. Eric Crouch hits Bowling for 17 yards to the 41. 0:43 left in the half. Thunder Collins for 8 yards, then with 0:16 left Crouch hits Gibson for 18 yards to the 34. Eric Crouch hits Thomas for 7 more to the 27, and then Josh Brown hits the 43 yarder ast time runs out. The Huskers start on the 24, and drive to the Kansas 45 before stalling. Kansas starts on their 14, and McPherson picks it off and the Huskers have it on their own 48. Eric Crouch hits Bowling for 13 yards, then Diedrick for 3, then Dahrran Diedrick makes a nice 20 yard run to the 12. Eric Crouch takes it 11 yards to the 1, then Eric takes it in for the TD! Kansas starts on their 10, and makes their best play of the game, a 42 yard run to the Huskers 48. They stall there, and the Huskers start on their 24, but they go 3 and out. Kansas starts on their 19 and Groce picks it off and the Huskers have it at the Kansas 42. The Huskers can't move it, but Larson punts it inside the 5 and Ricketts downs at the 2, and Kansas starts there. They go 3 and out, and the Huskers start on their own 48 after the punt. Eric Crouch hits Thomas for 13, then for 9. Eric Crouch runs for 4, and then hits Thomas again for 19 yards, 1st and goal on the 8 as the 3rd quarter ends.

The Huskers get called for a false start, and it is 1st and goal from the 13. The Huskers can't get it done, so Josh Brown comes in and hits the 32 yard FG. Kansas starts on their 16, and go 3 and out. Ben Cornelsen takes the punt 71 yards for the TD. Great punt return! The Huskers lead 37-0. Kansas starts on the 20, go 3 and out, and Zajicek gets a hand on the punt giving the Huskers the ball on the Kansas 47. Jammal Lord is in at QB and carries it for 9 yards, and then Dahrran Diedrick blasts 38 yards for the TD! Kansas starts on their 20, and lots of substitutes are in. Kansas is driving, and finally gets on the board with a TD with 9:10 left in the game. The Huskers start on their 42, and Grixby carries for 6, then 6, then 7. Paul Kastl for 6, and then Jammal Lord takes off on a 33 yard TD run with 3:39 left in the game. Kansas starts on their 19, and time runs out.

Game Comments:

The Huskers host the Kansas State Wildcats in a game that is critical, even if the Wildcats aren't rated where we thought they would be. They have showed strength in the last couple of games after losing 4 straight midway through the season. This is the last home game of the season, and the last home game for the Seniors, so it is a special one. The Huskers win the toss, and defer. K-State will take the ball first.

Kansas State starts at the 16, and calls a time out on 3rd and 3, but then converts with a 5 yard run to the 28. The K-State QB Roberson keeps it for a 43 yard gain to the Huskers 29. Mark Vedral makes a great tackle for a lost at the 35, and it is 3rd and 16 from the 35. Jamie Burrow SACK!! The Blackshirts fire up after that big run, and push K-State back to the 48, and they punt. K-State gets off a good punt, and the Huskers start on their own 5. Eric Crouch for 5 to the 10. Dahrran Diedrick for 7 to the 17, 1st down. But then on the next play Dahrran Diedrick fumbles the ball, and Kansas State recovers on the Huskers 20. A penalty puts K-State back on the 25. The Blackshirts make a great stand, and K-State goes for the Field Goal on 4th and 7 from the 17. BLOCKED!! Great job Blackshirts!! The Huskers have the ball on the 20.
